GC wansnt down in 04. The only two losses they had was to State Runner up PV. And both games against PV was close. I do admit they beat Richlands by luck that year. Other than that they were a great team. 05 and 06 are GC's down years.
The only real difference between Clintwood's 03 and 04 season is a loss to Haysi in 04. To go from a 7-3 season in 2004 to a 5-5 season in 2006 would be a bit of a downward spiral.

On swvafootball.com it has the score in '04 as 13-3 with Gate City over Clintwood. Was that a misprint on GMan's part?
Well I think you are both right IMHO there is not question that the 03 GC team was better than the 04 Team However they were still a dang good team and if not for a PV team that went to state that same year IMHO GC would have made a repeat trip (I also think that GC would have probably matched up better with the MP team than PV did)
As far as which Clintwood team was better the 03 or the 04 that is a close on to call but I would have to go with the 03 team but it is a tough one to call
Yeah it is a tough call...I think its about even between '03 and '04...can't judge it just on losing to Haysi in '04 because Haysi had a better team in '04 than they did in '03 plus they played Clintwood at home in '04.

Not by much, its like having a 98 average in a class a 100 average. Both are really good, both are better than about anybody else, just the 98 is a small drop lower than the 100.

2004 Clintwood 3 - Gate City 13
2005 Clintwood 20 - Gate City 35
You might think Gate City was just awesome and Clintwood had nothing in 2003 and then both teams matched up a little better in 2004.

No Clintwood had a good team in 03 but GC was on top of the world that year in 04 Clintwood was close to the same level (may have dropped of a little but still close) GC Droped alot but was still the 2nd best team in the reagion

I think Clintwood will be more evenly matched up with Gate City this year than in previous years but not yet on the same page as the Devils.

It was 47-33. Coeburn scored with less than 10 seconds to go to make the score more respectable. It was 47-25.

If I was a graduating member of the 2003 GC team and I seen people on here saying that the 2004 team was just as good or almost as good I would laugh until I cried. That is absurd. The 2003 GC with the exception of PV's team when Julius was a senior, was the best team I personally ever seen take the field.

I agree, the 03 team was at least 4 td's better than the 04 team. Not taking anything away from 04, they were some great kids, but come on now.

Appy scored almost at will, PV had troubles, no telling what Clintwood team shows up, and how they do.

Not trying to be a jerk, we're lucky to get the W, but most of us people with too little lifes are gonna be here wins or loss (every school).
For the record, I'd like to say that it was an extremely hard fought, clean played game. There was some hard hits from both sides and both sides are relatively young. We had the cold weather, we had a great game, and we had sorry crowds on both sides. Almost was a classic, but the lack of crowd takes so much away from it. Don't think that you're the only one that has some fairweather fans GC.
Pass the Tater Salad, and I like my crow chopped fine. The little girls in Blue are dissapointing, the fan support is dissapointing, the coaching is a disapointment, Heck I'd even venture to say the ball boys are a dissapointment at this point. They`re in desperate need of a win this week over the new Gangsta team of the LPD THUG VALLEY.

LOL I don't know about the Clintwood team comment but it is down a bit this year, no question. I think that one thing is nobody really is senior-heavy coupled with a bunch of juniors who played since 9th grade and such. It seems to me most everybody has a lot of inexperience and its definitely keeping their from being a dominant team. Really, the only dominant team thus far has been the Raiders, but they're D1 so you're D2 comment has some validity. I think Haysi is pretty good, very shocked about last nights game. Thats one of those that the more I heard the score, the more I was thinking someone called it in wrong or we were going to find out Haysi was playing with 11 kids or something.
It won't matter what happens in RD2 much. Who ever wins the Region, will be bounced the next week. I've seen that both Floyd and Giles look very good.
